Day 14

December 6th, 2007

"Can’t make it out tonight my liver wont let", thats the message I receive from Marv on day 14. Where’s the 34DoC spirit my friend? You travel thousands of miles away, carrying it in full force, return to Michigan and inept just a few days in? It’s ok though, I know you drank well beyond midnight the day before so your insurance policy is in full effect, I just had to give you a tickle for that message.

John, Adam, Pete, and I met up at Wild Bill’s for some $1 domestics. Day 14 - Anthony and John’s BeerIt was a rather mellow night, just a couple beers, some chit chat and happy times. It wasn’t until later that night, well beyond 10 p.m. or so that the picture messages start showing the true colors of the 34 Days of Christmas. Here are the updates as they came in.

Day 14 - Dave’s BeerUpdate: Dave from Minnesota

Dave sent us this picture after some "rumored" complications with his cell phone. And his simple message, "Happy 14."

Danielle sent this picture with this message, "Day whatever 2 dolla off pitchers! need i say more?"

Day 13

December 5th, 2007

A baker’s dozen is a testament to a bonus. It’s also an unlucky value many deem negative. Well the 34 Days of Christmas proves that wrong! Day 13 - Wine and Dine us (Go ahead, put it to the test Mythbusters!) Day 13 - John’s Birthday WineYesterday would mark the day of birth to the father of the 34 Days of Christmas, John. And it was an very fortunate event. John, Marv, Neil, PJ, Kristen, Pete, Danielle, and I met up at Teddy’s Time Square for a drink out of the comfort zone, a beautiful 2006 bottle of wine. Here we tasted the vulumptous flavors the grapes left on our taste buds as we cheers no beers to John. Day 13 - Marv and John’s Corona’sFor most the night was collective and ended on an earlier note. Day 13 - Used and Abused CigaretteBut oh no, not for John and Marv whom met up with Lauren later in the evening and clearly continued to infuse themselves in to the lushes they all are. Here’s to you John on your 25th birthday and let the 34 Days of Christmas ringing in our hearts until forever more. Peace to you and peace to all the people on this earth.Day 13 - Marv and John stil drinking

Day 13 - Dave’s BeerUpdate: Dave from Minnesota

Dave must start to feel lonely in company, but spiritually he is Godsend to the 34 Days of Christmas. His dedication through phyisical brutality shows you that no matter how much your throat hurts or how bad your cough is, a drink to the 34 Days of Christmas is mending at heart. Here is his picture and message he sent us, "Holiday cheers for holiday beers"

Day 12

December 4th, 2007

What a joyous day, a beautiful collaboration, an intricate perfection this is! Through traveling distances and unexpectedDay 12 - Marv and Anthony locations the vast majority were graced with each others faces on this 12th day of christmas. If this was a song it would end here, but this is no song, nothing but the sweet sounds of shot glasses chirping, corona bottles imitating Pete on the Day 12 - Mind Eraser shots all around!returned inversion, and sporatic laughing outbursts! Monday night John, Jake, Danielle, Pete, Neil, Marv, Marc, and myself returned to Boston’s for $2 Corona night. We also shared a collective shot(s). Later in the night I met up with James of No Resolve at Renshaw’s for a festive drink. The rest of the gang stayed at Boston’s. Drinks were flowing, and the festive Christmas spirit was rich in our hearts, connecting each individual to the rest, creating the depth and diversity amongst us as one, as a participate, a diciple to the 34 Days of Christmas. Day 12 - Anthony’s Beer Farmers would stop filling egg cartons, Pepsi would stop filling soda cans, AM would turn to PM, and a perfect bowling game would end, but see, this is where the 34 Days of Christmas says, "you keep yourself at 12, you make yourself happy with happily divisible number by 4 happily common denominators and we’ll continue counting, because this holiday spirit is in all of us, not in just an egg carton or soda can or time or game, this is what makes the sleigh bells ring, rudolph’s nose red, snow white, and santa fat." All hail the 34 Days of Christmas and sing in excelsis deo!

Day 12 - Dave’s Beer at Modest Mouse ConcertUpdate: Dave from Minnesota

Even though day is a few hundred miles away and across Lake Michigan doesn’t mean the spirit of the 34 DoC isn’t in him as well. Here is a photo Dave sent us with a message, "At the modest mouse concert.  happy day 12"

Day 11

December 3rd, 2007

We’re nearly 1/3 through this thing and we’re still going strong! Day 11 - Dave’ TailgateIn the wee early morning from Minnesota we got a picture of Dave and gang tailgaiting for the Lions game. He followed it with this message "Morning tailgate.  happy day 11".

Day 11 - Marv’s SunsetThen later in the evening we recieved a sarcastic little photo from Marv, taunting us with his beachy sunset in California, "How’s the snow treating you". Day 11 - Anthony’s SnowSo, naturally, I responded with a photo of our weather, and this message, "its beautiful, u wish u were here!".

Neil sent us this little video of his red, red wine, his message, “red red wine makes me feel so fine… . and a little girly”

Day 11 - Anthony’s DrinkLater that night John and myself met up at Snooker’s for a drink. We were accompanied later by Danielle and Pete.Day 11 - Pete and Danielle Marv also sent us one last photo from California. His message was "Daddy’s coming home" Throughout the country the spirit is strong, not a day lays to rest, we knew we’d be in this all along.

Day 11 - Marv’s Last California Beer

Day 10

December 2nd, 2007

Double digits now. And Michigan weather was in full effect. But don’t think that is going to stop us! Over the weekend, P.J, Adam, and some other went to visit Dave in Minnesota, as well as see the Lions play the Vikings. Danko and myself went to see Evans|Blue, Framing Hanley, and No Resolve in concert in Flint, MI. And well the rest of the group headed over to Kennedy’s for a drinking festive. Day 9

December 1st, 2007

I love this. Right now I don’t know what else to say, but that. The 34 Days of Christmas, I think, has more meaning behind it than any of us ever anticipated. Day 9 - Danielle’s MargaritaThis event has brought some of the best times you have with friends, some of the best conversation, best laughs, and funny faces. If Christmas isn’t about all that, then you don’t have the spirit of Christmas in you! (and yes, its only been 9 days!)

Day 9 - Anthony’s MargaritaLast night was fairly mellow, but a perfect night, none-the-less. Danielle, John, and I met up at Applebee’s for the “perfect margarita” and awesome conversation. We actually stayed well beyond their closing hours. So headed over to Snooker’s, where Pete happen to be working. Day 9 - Happy JohnHad a chocolate martini, continued conversation, and kept it calm for the evening. This is the last day of November, and also the last single digit day. Here are some further updates…

Update: Marv from California
Day 9 - I Marv, DrinkI’m not too sure what Marv was up to in California, but judging by his series of pictures that came through, he kept the spirit of the 34 Days of Christmas 3000 miles across the country. Marv, you’re a good man. Here are the photos he sent, chronologically, throughout the night.

“Got booted from the hotel bar but not without takin some hostages”

Day 8

November 30th, 2007

And this marks the first post to be typed under the influence. I have read this more than once to make sure I could fix the words Day 8 - Anthony’s Beerthat are missed spelled. Don’t want to make this look bad. So where do I begin. First off, I’m happy. I just got back from an early night at O’Tooles in Royal Oak. What a great night. I personally didn’t intend on drinking that much, but you know how it goes, 1 drink down and then its like 5 and a couple shots later. It was a very eventful night though, if I may say. First off Day 8 - Anthony’s MugO’Tooles has $2 mug nights, which just makes it great for drinking, especially 34DoC style. I happen to buy a couple shots for the shot girl and myself and recorded a little video. The first video didn’t work so I bought another one for a new video. She was awesome, such a great sport for this event. I wish I knew her name, she deserves the recognition. (Beautiful too, if my say, just a beautiful girl, thank you). Here is the video:

I also just happen to run into Stephanie there as well. It was good to see her. And once again, the picture messages kept coming in. I love this event! Thank God for cell phones and the technology that makes the 34DoC more real than ever. Here are the updates…

Day 7

November 29th, 2007

Quitters never prosper. That’s what they say. And prosperity is the root of this challenge. I don’t even know if I’d call it a challenge anymore. It’s more like a standard, another Day 7 - Wild Billsbreath of air, cold air, cold air that feels so good deep down in the lungs. It’s now been 1 full week of the 34DoC and all is going well. Last night John, Jake, Sara, Lauren, and I met up at Wild Bill’s for $1 domestics. We were also graced with the presence of Dave, Neil, and Marv via cell pix. How great does it feel to know that the prosperous are contingent. To quit, say nay.

Day 7 - Marv’s BeerAnd for a finale of the night, Marv sent us this picture of his Blue Moon, captioned, "The saga continues got my blue moon".

Ahh the night is complete, tis the season!

Day 6

November 28th, 2007

“Don’t Get Scared Now!” This is the tag line to the 34 Days Of Christmas. And as the night slowly transpired I became scared that this festive event was going to die too quickly, but why I fret. Shame on me. Further into the night I received picture messages after picture messages. Hell, even a couple video messages. It was at this defining moment that I knew that it was too early for this die. Not with the true dedication of us all. No way will the 34 Days Of Christmas die on its first week. No way Jose! Even though we couldn’t enjoy the presence of each other, the spirit of Christmas (34 Days of Christmas) was passed through the digital airwaves and into our cell phones. Here are the updates from across the country….

Day 5

November 27th, 2007

The first Monday starts off strong. John, Pete, Danielle, Neil, Lauren, and I met up at Boston’s for $2 Corona night. From a night that was expected to last only a couple hours when well past midnight and not a moment too soon! We’ve decided to write a song for the 34 days of Christmas, much like the 12 days of Christmas, but this one’s going to be much long, obviously. Updates from Dave and Marv were gladly appreciated. Our pictures from Boston’s:

Day 5 - John and Danielle Day 5 - John and a Corona Day 5 - Corona’s for all! Day 5 - Drink up! Day 5 - Watch out Lauren, tower-o-Corona’s!
