Day 4

November 26th, 2007

The weekend has been long and it was supple that this not die so soon. I received a text message from John half way through the day, “Drinks tonite?” and ironically at the same time my parents and some friends had been drinking throughout the day, questioning the hell out of what this “34 Days of Christmas” is. So I texted John back and told him to come by for some drinks. I also texted Marv, “come by for a drink at my house”, his response, “what kind of drink?”, me, “a good drink”, Marv, “OK!”. So Marv joined us as well.

I definitely think Marv and John were in for a surprise more than they expected, I was. My parents and their friends had been drinking since 12:20pm and were quite toasty. They questioned all of us on numerous things, including the legendary 34 Days of Christmas. Furthermore my mother and her friend Joyce are up for the 34DOC challenge. They pulled out their planners and started discussing how they plan on meeting for a drink everyday. I will keep updates I receive from them on their progress as well. Dave had to return to Minnesota later in the evening, but sent us a picture message of his beer for the day. So while friends part into different locations, the 34DOC does not fall, 30 days to go, don’t get scared now!

UPDATE: Dave from Minnesota

Day 3 - Dave’s Beer from the airportDave had to return back to Minnesota later in the evening, but he did not cop out, ordering his drink at the airport.  Here is the picture Dave sent us from the airport, along with the following message: “Who needs insurance policies!?  not this guy.”

Day 3

November 25th, 2007

And it continues, day 3 was probably the most exhausting yetDay 3 - John at Ruby Tuesdays (and yet there is only 2 days to compare it too). On this day, Neil and I went to Lakeside mall, just passing time and were promptly intercepted with a call fromDay 3 - Neil at Ruby Tuesdays Mr. J. Kilburn. He met us up at the mall and we went in for a drink at Ruby Tuesday’s. After the first beer time was quickly moving and it was closing in on the nights festivities. Yet we continued on with a second beer and enjoyed the time.

After Ruby Tuesday’s I went home to shower up while Neil and John metDay 3 - John and Danielle at Champs Danielle at Champs for her first (?) beer of the day. Neil and John met up with me later at Buca Di Peppo’s (as did Marv) for a nice Italian dinner for Dan’s birthday. No drinking here, just good food.

Dragging the night more after dinner we went to Dave’s house for yet another beer and some ping pong. It was Dave’s father’s 50th birthday, so the festivities were, yet again, appropriate. The night was still young and we Day 3 - Neil and Marv at Wild Bill’smet up with the rest of the gang at Wild Bill’s in Utica. At this point it was Neil, John, Adam, Marv, PJ, Liz, Dave, Baldwin, and myself. I had previously made some plans with my cousin Vinny and so Neil and I went out to Mt. Clemens for some drinks at Johnny G’s. Everyone else stayed at Wild Bill’s. So far the success of the 34DOC (the short name) is going strong.

Day 2

November 24th, 2007

The 2nd day of this mischievious adventure started off at Mr. N. Galecki”s home.  We shared a few drinks and shots in the hospitality of Mr. N. Galecki.  After a few hours we decided to take our festivities out on the town.  Through some lost in confusion, we ended up splitting into two groups, half going to Mainstreet Billiards in Rochester and the other half to Royal Oak.  Here is a brief following of the two groups:

Rochester Group

John, Marv, Baldwin, Wes, P.J., and some others (not sure who, lets just call them “those people”) went to Mainstreet Billiards for a drink or 3.  If you were there and would like to fill in the stories for the night, please do so.

 Royal Oak Group

Anthony, Neil, and Jeff decided to go to Royal Oak.  We started the night off a little rough, realizing that none of us three could drive.  So Anthony’s sister came and picked the 3 of us up and took us to Royal Oak, knowing we had no ride home.  We started the night young at the Sky Bar, but soon led ourselves over to 5th Avenue.  It was really nothing special.  Sky was wickedly packed and 5th was similar.   Instead we headed over to Woody’s and drank some more.  Ran in to some old friends in the mix (from what I can remember).  Then as the night was closing we could find no ride home.  Neil made the crucial call to Ms. S. Wosik whom picked us up on the streets and took us in.  We giggled the night away, eating orange popcorn and cooking perogies (cooking them, which doesn’t necessarily mean they were eaten).  We woke up and eventually made it back home.  This night goes out to Ms. S. Wosik for her generous care and nuturing, we would have never made it through the night without her.   Thanks.

(I still have pictures from the night to upload….please check back)

Day 1

November 23rd, 2007

The first day of the 34 days of Christmas has begun. At this moment I do not have the complete origins of the 34 days of Christmas in it’s entirety. Mr J. Kilburn has been slowly compiling the origins in his head, through drunken oblivion, the complete understands and details of the 34 days of Christmas will come out, in it’s true form. For now, here is a brief understanding:

Mr. J. Kilburn and Ms. D. Welchko through conversational thought intrigued their amusement with the thought of drinking everyday between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It also became apparent that there is a max of 34 days between Christmas and Thanksgiving. Ironic or not, (some call it fate) this year happens to be the maximum number of days, 34. So starting last night, after we all celebrated the joyous eating holiday of Thanksgiving, we indulged ourselves in the company and spirits of what has begun as the 34 days of Christmas. The concept also developed simple rules that makes this joyous occasion more fulfilling. For instance, in order to keep the consistency going, you must consume atleast one alcoholic beverage every day during the 34 days, further more, an insurance policy was developed as a contigency for the fact that most nights will elapse into the next day. If for some pressing reason a beverage can not be consume on the following day of a late night drinking festivity, the drinks consumed past 12 am can be carried over as drinks for the next day. The idea behind the next 34 days allows for friends to keep close, enjoy the laugh of one another, and celebrate the holiday season. Tis, the season to be jolly…

As for now that is all that I know of the 34 days of Christmas. This should enlighten you for the time being. As for now keep up to date with the stats of each consecutive night on the Stats page.

To get the ball rolling, Marv, Neil, John, Danielle, Dave, Pete, Lindsey, and myself met up at Snookers in Utica for the first night of many. We did not really have a camera on us to capture the night, but I took a couple pictures with my cell phone. So here is a few pictures of Day 1.
